Vipingo Development Limited though the Centum Foundation in 2016 launched a scholarship fund to enable bright but needy students from the project’s neighbourhood access secondary school education. To date, more than 150 students have benefited from the program.
Vocational Technical Training Programme
In July 2018, Vipingo Development launched a fully sponsored Vocational Technical Training programme. The programme is aimed at equipping youth from the local community with technical skills that would enable them to competitively engage in gainful employment within and beyond Vipingo Development. The training is undertaken by trainers from ArcSkills, a globally accredited institution and part of GEM education.
The first class of 50 students graduated on 24th September 2018. 30 of the graduands have since found gainful employment with four currently working for Vipingo Development. The second class is currently in training.
To respond to the learning needs at Mkwajuni Polytechnic, the host of our Vocational Technical Training Programme, we donated 100 chairs to the institution on 22nd October 2018.
Primary Schools Upgrade Programme
Vipingo Development has also committed to upgrading learning facilities within primary schools in the area. To date, we have erected new classrooms for two schools: Makonde and Timboni Primary schools.
